ANNUAL FIRST PARISH FOURTH OF JULY SNACK BAR AND BOOK SALE
The town of Bridgewater's Fourth of July Celebration is a very special event. Among the usual festivities are a parade which passes by the end of the church lane; and on the BSC Boyden Quad storytellers, crafts, music and a wonderful local artisan festival.
In conjunction with the town events, First Parish provides a Snack Bar on the church lawn and Book Sale in the lane or the sanctuary. This is a major fundraiser for the church and 10% of the profits will be donated to local charities.
Hot dogs and hamburgers, both regular and vegetarian; and sausages are available from the grille. Special gourmet wraps are also sold. Fresh squeezed lemonade and home made strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream are two specialties, along with baked goods. Sodas, water and coffee will also be available. There is seating in the lane (or indoors in the event of rain).
The Book Sale has a vast collection of both hardcover and paperback books and some video tapes and DVD's. Fair trade items from Global Exchange will be sold also.
This is a real church community event with many people working throughout the day. School Street in Bridgewater is the place to be on the Fourth.
